City of Waco Leadership
The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum (TRHFM), was founded in 1964 as a partnership between the City of Waco and the State of Texas. Its mission is to educates the public about the Texas Rangers, the earliest statewide law enforcement agency in the US. It collects and preserves the history, artifacts and documents of the service in public trust.
The TRHFM was the first law enforcement historical center established in th US. It is a governmental nonprofit authorized by the Texas State Legislature and Texas Public Safety Commission as the official museum (1964), State memorial (1971) and repository (1997) of the Texas Rangers.
As a department of the City, the City of Waco manages the TRHFM for the State of Texas and the People of Texas through a council-manager form of government.
